Tuesday night San Angelo hosted its own mini South by Southwest when Boothill Gang, The Whiskey Dicks, and The Goddamn Gallows stopped by The Deadhorse on their way to SXSW in Austin.

Virgins to the venue Boothill Gang went first, playing their brand of rock and roll affectionately known as “ass shakin', whiskey drinkin', Southern hard rock.” The Gang are from So Cal and are planning on going into the studio in April to lay down 16 tracks for their forthcoming album. The band are currently touring and will be heading back west after South by this weekend.

Affectionately referred to as "one of our favorite enemies that we’ve shared the stage with" by the Goddamn Gallows, The Whiskey Dicks provided a nice seguay into the final set of the night with a sound that was a little more punk and a little more country. The Dicks have been touring in and around Texas since early March and will head back out to their home in the Golden State after a few post South by Southwest shows.

The night culminated with The Deadhorse’s favorite, Goddamn Gallows. Still on tour from the last time San Angelo saw them, the Gallows demonstrated an energy to rival the Energizer bunny.

“San Angelo rocks me like a bunny on my windshield: Woo Woo Woo,” stand-up bassist Fishgutz said. Lead singer and guitar player Mikey Classic then told a story of a hawk dropping a dead rabbit on their windshield while the band was driving; like the body falling from the sky in “Con Air” when it hit the elderly couple’s just-washed car.

Loved this time even more than the last, the Goddamn Gallows ran through their set and were called out again by an insatiable crowd. After some back-stage persuading, the band reemerged and played three more songs, which still wasn’t enough but would have to suffice on this fine evening: They, like the others, had some traveling to do before SXSW the next afternoon and would be needing their beauty sleep.
