“San Angelo and Tom Green County voters are key to our success in November,” said Noriega. “Veteran’s issues, water rights and conservation, and making college affordable are big concern across Texas. The issues of Tom Green County are the issues of Texas.”

Noriega served as the Laredo Sector Commander for “Operation Jumpstart”, the National Guard’s border security campaign, and also served with the National Guard in Afghanistan.

He is available to discuss a variety of issues affecting Tom Green county: wind power and alternative energy sources, water rights, the nation’s health insurance and health care crisis, proposed education and tuition benefit increases for U.S. service members, rising gasoline and food prices, and his military experience.

Noriega, (D-Houston), won the March Democratic primary election for U.S. Senate without a runoff with 1,108,318 votes. He faces Sen. John Cornyn in the November general election.

He is a 27-year veteran of the military, currently serving as a Lieutenant Colonel in the Army National Guard. He was also chosen to serve as the incident commander of the Hurricane Katrina refugee support operations at Houston’s George R. Brown Convention Center, coordinating relief efforts in the wake of the devastating natural disaster.

A graduate of the University of Houston and Harvard University, Noriega is a member of the Defense Affairs and State and Federal Relations Committee of the Texas House of Representatives. A father of two sons, Noriega is married to At-Large Houston City Council Member Melissa Noriega.
