The band sports a name as unusual as its sound. With a set list including “Little Red Riding Hood,” “Where Can My Baby Be?” and a spoof on “Deep in The Heart of Texas,” which made fun of redneck stereotypes, the Subs had an unlikely audience dancing and jamming to their low-end buzz. The band was excellent. Upon closer investigation, they were even better. Headed by frontman Buster Crash, the band includes bassist Lefty DeMarco, “kicking your ass single-handedly.” DeMarco plays with intense skill—without a left hand to hold down the fret board!

Josh started playing acoustic open mic nights at The Blue Light in Lubbock, TX with his fraternity brother Austin (banjo) in January 2006. After a month or two of that, people took notice and told him to get a band together. So he called up two more fraternity brothers (Drew-drums, Neel-Bass) and it just took off from there. They recorded an LP in December 2006, and even went a step further and recorded a music video for a competition on CMT.com!

What began in 2000 with a simple gift of a guitar made possible by his grandfather has led Drew Kennedy down the winding road that he travels today. That journey, seven years in the making, has culminated in the March 2007 Sustain Records release of "Dollar Theatre Movie".

Del Castillo is a sextet. Two brothers, Rick and Mark del Castillo are the heart of the show with their technically and musically proficient acoustic guitar duet. Behind them, two percussionists keep the Latin beat alive. Carmelo Torres plays to bongos and Mike Zeoli carefully leads the beat from a single drum set. They combine their efforts into what sounds like a two-man drumline. What makes the beat so good is the pure musicianship of the percussion package. They play soft; they play loud, varying the volume and beats as if they were backing a symphonic orchestra.

Stage names pretty much define this Texas “garage-a-billy” band: Alotof Rockowski plays the bass, Johnny Cat stands up while jammin’ on the drums, and Clem Hoot, a Norwegian, is the lead guitarist and lead vocalist. Well, they all do vocals. Clem Hoot explains the “garage-a-billy” sound: “It’s not so traditional. It does have the influences of Johnny Cash and Hank Williams—but then again it also has The Ramones, Dead Kennedys, and Sex Pistols, and all the great punk rockers.” More here (with Podcast): www.sanangelolive.com/node/3549.

Miles From Nowhere was formed in the summer of 2004 when Merrol Ray decided he was through with being a guitar for hire and knew it was time to do his own thing. With a few phone calls, the genesis of what would become Miles From Nowhere was conceived. Merrol found himself a drummer then called his younger cousin Adam. He knew Adam would be interested because he would occasionally bring his guitar over and sing parts of songs that he had learned. Practicing in Merrol's Dad's welding shop, they began auditioning bass players with none quite working out.

Collins, who plays a unique kind of country-alt/Americana, is a little bit of a newcomer to the Texas music scene, having spend some years pursuing a degree in business and finance from The University of Texas. But in 2005, his music gained greater heights for the 29-year-old from Houston: first in the release of his debut album "Something Better" (Fat Caddy Records, 2005) and then, just a few months later, when his band played the 2005 Austin City Limits Music Festival to a standing-room-only crowd.

The rush of rock-n-roll can be powerfully addictive and with Adrenaline Factor at the wheel, it’s sure be a white-knuckle ride. Fueled by high-octane riffs and boozy bad-boy lyrics howled by Lee "Bon"Scott, Adrenaline Factor’s self titled debut is a tire-screeching soundtrack for cruising and carousing. You don’t see a rock band very often that features a violinist—much less one that also boasts a cello player and a keyboardist—and while six is a lot of people to pile on a stage the size of the Steel Penny’s, it was definitely a treat in the form of ear candy. The band had a repertoire of tracks that kept the listener engaged, and a power to convey feeling more concisely with the appropriate medium.
