Fort Worth native Ryan Turner followed the rule book for breaking into the Texas country music scene: He went to A&M in the mid- ‘90s, when the music was gaining traction. “I remember when people were going nuts over Robert Earl Keen,” Turner says, “and Pat Green, [at] really small clubs.”Like the Dixie Chicken. Turner says he majored in “poultry science” frequenting that watering hole (Turner made a 1.67 during the semester he was at A&M).
