Crash on Howard Destroys Utility Pole

A crash between a Ram 1500 pickup and Toyota Corolla sent a woman to Shannon Medical Center and destroyed a utility pole, police said. The crash happened at approximately noon today at N. Howard St. and Walnut St.

According to police, the driver of the Ram was northbound on Howard and the Toyota Corolla was southbound. The woman driving the Corolla attempted to make a left turn without yielding to the Ram, police said.

The location of the crash:

The crash sent both vehicles in different directions. One hit a utility pole carrying electricity to the block. Police said AEP has been called to replace the pole and the street will likely be blocked for the remainder of the day while repairs are made.

The Woman driving the Corolla was rushed to Shannon. The driver of the Ram was unhurt. Police said they have yet to interview the Corolla driver, but based upon witness statements at the scene, he anticipates a citation will be given to the woman at Shannon for failure to yield right-of-way while making a left turn.
