Teen Driver's Failure to Yield Causes Chain Reaction Crash

 

SAN ANGELO, TX - At around 2 p.m. this afternoon, a teenager who failed to yield to an oncoming vehicle and caused a chain reaction crash in the 1900 block of Knickerbocker Road.

San Angelo Police said a 16-year-old driver of a Nissan Sentra failed to yield the right of way leaving a private parking lot and struck a Jeep Cherokee, causing it to spin and the Nissan to stop. As a result, the driver of a Buick Enclave slammed into the back of the Nissan from behind.

An officer at the scene said there were three occupants in the Buick, one in the Nissan and two in the Jeep. The female driver of the SUV may have suffered a broken wrist.

He added that the 16-year-old driver received a citation for failure to yield the right of way from a private drive, and a written warning for failure to display a driver's license.
