Man Killed in Saturday's FM 2105 Crash Identified

SAN ANGELO, TX — The Texas DPS released more information and identified the man killed in the fatal crash on FM 2105 that happened at 7:05 p.m. Saturday, April 27.

According to the DPS, 68-year-old David Thomas Fairchild of San Angelo, while driving a 1999 Ford F-250 pickup, turned west from a private drive westbound onto FM 2105. DPS said he was accelerating on the improved shoulder prior to merging into the westbound lane. At about this time, Timothy James Clark, 43, of San Angelo, in a 2004 Ford F-250 struck the rear of Fairchild's F-250 when Fairchild was still on the improved shoulder prior to merging. Fairchild slowed and stopped after the collision but Clark careened through a barrow ditch, struck a fence, and then rolled over onto its side, skidded, and came to a stop upright at the entrance of Oilfield Drive on the north side of FM 2105.

Clark was pronounced dead at the scene. DPS stated he was not wearing a seatbelt. Fairchild was uninjured.

The speed limit is 60 mph where the crash occurred. The roadway was dry and it was still daylight.

The crash scene was tended by the Tom Green County Sheriff’s Office and Grape Creek Volunteer Fire Department. The investigation was conducted by DPS Trooper Nicholas Easter.

During the initial briefing during the initial commotion at the scene, DPS stated that the call for service happened at 7:19 p.m. In the preliminary crash report, they revised the time to 7:05 p.m.
