Tom Green County Resident Charged with Sexual Assault of a Child

A Tom Green County resident, Jose Jesus Gonzales, 41, was arrested this weekend by Tom Green County criminal investigators for the sexual assault of a child, a 2nd degree felony, said a Tom Green County Sheriff’s Office press release.

According to the release, during the early evening hours of Nov. 28, the San Angelo Police Department reported a possible sexual assault victim present at its department. However, the SAPD officers who initially responded to the case determined the offense had occurred in the county jurisdiction; therefore, Tom Green County deputies and criminal investigators responded to interview the victim.

As a result of the initial investigation, criminal investigators obtained an evidentiary search warrant to search for evidence at a location on North Valley Drive in Tom Green County. The Criminal Investigation Division, assisted by the Patrol Division, executed the search warrant without incident. Investigators located pertinent evidence to the investigation, and Gonzales was then arrested and charged. His bond is set at $250,000.

At this time, the investigation remains ongoing to determine if any additional victims can be identified.
