San Angelo Police Investigate Infant Death at Daycare Facility

Detectives with the San Angelo Police Department’s Criminal Investigations Division are investigating the death of a nine-week-old infant who died at a local licensed in-home daycare facility Monday afternoon.

Police were dispatched to a residence in the 2600 block of Colorado Avenue just before 4 p.m. yesterday for the report of a male infant that was non-responsive.

Upon arrival, San Angelo Fire Department Medics were rendering emergency rescue care to the infant who was transported to Community Medical Center for treatment.  The baby was pronounced dead by medical staff at 4:42 p.m.  Because the cause of the death was uncertain, the infant was later transported to Lubbock for autopsy.

Members of the Patrol and Criminal Investigations Division and CSI responded to the location.  No apparent signs of foul play were located at the scene.

This is an on-going investigation and more information will be released when it becomes available.
