28-Year-Old San Angelo Man Arrested on Drug/Weapon Charges after Traffic Stop

 

At approximately 3:00 p.m. yesterday, San Angelo Police conducted a traffic stop on a blue Chevrolet Silverado Pickup near the intersection of E. 12th Street and N. Oakes, said Officer Tracy Gonzalez, public information officer for SAPD.

Officers made contact with the driver, 28-year-old Zachary Garcia, who was identified as having an outstanding arrest warrant. 

Officers arrested Garcia for the warrant and located illegal drug paraphernalia inside his pocket during a search. During the subsequent search of Garcia’s vehicle, officers located a loaded, unholstered handgun lying on the center floorboard, an assortment of ammunition for various firearms, marijuana, and various prescription drugs. The traffic stop was initiated by members of SAPD's newly formed Street Crimes Division. Patrol assisted.

Garcia was charged with his outstanding warrant, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Possession Dangerous Drug, and Unlawful Carrying Weapon. Garcia was transported to the Tom Green County Jail without incident.
