Repeal and Replace Linda Shoemaker
This is an answer to Tom Green County Democratic Party Chair Linda Shoemaker's August 26 editorial where she pleaded with the rest of us that Democrats are not socialists.
Linda Shoemaker's opening sentence is a lie, or a testament to a lack of reading comprehension skills.
She quoted San Angelo's Republican Party leader Russ Duerstine, suggesting that his intent was to impale the Democratic Party. Her mistaken interpretation is that this would eliminate the two party system, leaving all of the tired, poor, and huddled masses without a home. Yet, that's not what he said at all.
Duerstine was marveling at the newly minted San Angelo libertarian party, and suggested that a libertarian ideology usurping the radical 1960s socialism of the modern Democrats may be a positive step forward to reforming the two party political system.
And why not? Shoemaker's generation has failed the Democratic Party and America too. It's time to pass the torch, Mrs. Shoemaker.
The modern Democratic Party has become the club of economic has-beens, America-haters and perverts.
Economic Has-Been Exhibit A is their favorite son Paul Krugman. Any time anyone mentions "jobs," he's on his soapbox demanding more Keynesian "stimulus." With nearly $1 Trillion in spending and another $2 or $3 Trillion in secret Fed stimulus, the country's grave is officially 6 feet deep. Now our economy stinks, actually it's worse, and we have an additional $4 Trillion on the Bank of China credit card. Still, the Democrat's favorite son Krugman keeps demanding more spending. No one in the Democratic Party has the brains counter him, because there is a funeral dirge of economic thought in that party.
Since Vietnam, the Democratic Party has no concept of the importance of winning wars. It all started where the former Democratic Party failed, under LBJ, to win wars. What followed was a complete and total capitulation of American leadership in Saigon in 1975, the Pentagon Papers, anti-American committee hearings where the Democrat's favorite son Senator John Kerry turned on his comrades in arms for political expediency. Fast-forward to today. We have the almost treasonous anti-Americanism displayed by the Democratic Party leadership on Iraq, and the fulfillment of the policy that anti-Americanism fomented under Obama.
The strategic stupidity of abandoning Iraq to double-down in Afghanistan is incoherent and stupid. While Iraq has strategic importance to our national interest, Afghanistan has little. From Alexander the Great to the Soviet Union, all have learned that lesson, and retreated. But not the Democrats! Under Democratic leadership, our country's foreign policy is to cede Iraq to the Iranians, and step up our efforts in two or three additional wars in Pakistan, Yemen, and Libya. If the strategic interests of the United States are not important to the Democratic Party, what is?
Good Democrats are morally repulsed when it's convenient to gain favor with the electorate ("Bush lied, someone died"), but eerily silent when their favorite sons like Obama start wars.
If you think I am wrong, ask yourself, where are all of the weirdo war protesters against Obama's wars? The answer is that the Democratic Party puts party above country, and protests wars for political gain at great cost of American blood and treasure.
Both parties have their share of perverts, but the Democrats own the ones like Anthony Weiner. It is because of the Democratic Party's moral relativism that it has an extremely hard time demanding accountability. It took Andrew Brietbart's publishing of the Weiner pics, and a couple weeks, before any leadership of the Democratic Party demanded he step down. But worse than Weiner, Democratic Party Congressman Barney Frank hired a male prostitute for sex, and put him on the Congressional payroll. Even after reprimand, the Democratic Party elevated him to a leadership position on the House Financial Services committee where he was able to prostitute the taxpayers into financing the financial collapse via Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae. In stark contrast, Republican Larry Craig is a "former Republican politician."
Local Republican leader Duerstine made a very good point that the toxic ideology of the Democratic Party should be replaced with something. We should start with getting rid of the local county's Democratic Party leadership.

The picture shown is from 2007. It has no relation to today's Democrats. It was put on by a group not associated with the Democratic Party. This attempt to libel Democrats with a false picture is outright fraud.
The columnist can claim "he didn't know." But that is an admission that he uses shoddy sources and doesn't bother to check his facts. No matter. It is when ideologues have to resort to lies and fraud to discredit their opposition that they become dinosaurs.
