"Seek Change" Plans to Host 2nd Peace Rally At ASU

San Angelo, TX – This past Saturday, August 27, marked the first ever Seek Change Rally held by Move Ministries. The rally’s goal was to unite the community and ignite a peaceful conversation about the ongoing tensions between police and community members.

Rally members congregated at St. Paul’s Baptist Church, and they invited the community to become a part of the movement. Three speakers were invited to voice their thoughts and provide a different perspective to the discussion.

The message focused on finding a way to establish positive relationship between law enforcement and the public. Due to the recent events that have occurred throughout the country, tensions have continued to escalate between the police and people in low-income areas. The goal of the rally was to invite the public to start a dialogue that helps create a real solution to the situation.

One of the speakers asked those in attendance to remember the power of social media and to use that as an important tool to spread a peaceful message that will aid the situations unfolding across the country. Another speaker asked those in attendance to become involved in the discussion and add to the conversation, regardless of age. Last but not least, the final speaker asked those individuals who felt anger to channel it to the right effort. Being angry about the situation does not mean inciting violence; it’s about seeking change, peacefully.

“We can’t just sit there and expect change,” said Christa Howard, organizer of the rally.

Both Christa and Move Ministries are expecting to hold another Seek Change Rally at ASU (date to be announced). They hope to unite both college students and community members in a peaceful and organized manner.

According to the organizers of the event, San Angelo Police were invited to the event, but they did not receive a confirmation regarding the invitation. Howard stated they will continue to invite SAPD to any and all rallies, for Move Ministries hopes to have speakers from all parts of the community.
