Fighting the Wildcat Fires, the Inside Story

Water Valley Volunteer Fire Department, who was at a time, the first line of defense between the Wildcat Fires and the City of San Angelo, has a really good article written about them in the Texas Farm Bureau’s Texas Agriculture Magazine this month (May 2011).

The story centers around the fire chief of Water Valley’s VFD, J.C. Schovajsa, and follows the drama on the front lines while fighting the Wildcat Fires in April 2011. Read it here (link below), “The Heart of a Firefighter.”
