San Angelo Prefers Smoking Over March Madness
The weather must be getting warmer in March, because Fiddlestrings, with its outdoor pool and outdoor smoking areas (reading this, Mr. Councilman?) was the top drinking establishment last month.
Buffalo Wild Wings didn’t receive a large enough lift from basketball’s March Madness to overcome smoking outdoors, dropping $30,000 gross from its football highs of January. They still finished in second place, behind the smokers.
Midnight Rodeo Slips, But Graham’s Still Can’t Compete
In the shootout between Graham Central Station and Midnight Rodeo, Midnight Rodeo lost ground while Graham Brothers remained flat, but Midnight Rodeo still reigns supreme in the large-scale nightclub format, $74.9k vs. $58.0k. Graham Central Station is looking for another manager.
Viva Downtown!
Downtown clubs continued their gradual climb, and with down months for both Midnight Rodeo and Buffalo Wild Wings, appeared to gain more significantly in March. The Deadhorse’s “three band strategy” seems to be helping sales. They consistently line up three bands starting at 10 p.m. on Friday and Saturday night, ending the evening at 2 a.m., keeping revelers there longer, and spending money. It was enough to edge Blaine’s Pub, but neither could best the band-less Fat Boss Club’s $64k (which was still better than Graham Central Station’s gross).
Area Comparisons
In the area comparisons, downtown moves to the second spot in sales, soundly defeating the Southwest zip code anchored by Midnight Rodeo, which had an off month. Sherwood Way only outsold downtown by $18k.
