The Abilene Zoo Calls on All Pokémon Trainers

The Abilene Zoo will be hosting a Pokémon Go inspired event on Thursday, July 28. The event starts at 5 p.m. and will end at 9 p.m. The zoo will stay open one hour longer than its normal hours.

Kelly Thompson, marketing and development coordinator for the Abilene Zoo, said the event will have experienced players using “lures” to attract the Pokémon, so all trainers can come and enjoy capturing the virtual species while also viewing the zoo's stunning real ones.

The lures will be placed down every 15 minutes, and will continue until 8 p.m.

The Abilene Zoo is home to 15 Poké Stops and one gym, so trainers are encouraged to come out wearing their team colors to represent while battling and capturing Pokémon.  A vendor will also be selling team colored shirts at the event.

The entrance fee will be regular admission for guests and free for zoo members. More details will be added prior to the event.
