High Speed Chase Leads to On-Foot Manhunt in North San Angelo

At approximately 5:18 p.m., San Angelo Police attempted to initiate a traffic stop on a silver, 2012 Dodge Charger that was traveling approximately 58 MPH in a 40 MPH zone, according to a SAPD press release.

The officer caught up to the vehicle on U.S. HWY 87 near the YMCA and activated the patrol vehicle's overhead emergency lights and sirens, however; the driver refused to stop and a vehicle pursuit ensued.

The fleeing suspect continued traveling northbound on U.S. 87 at increasing speeds and made several dangerous maneuvers in an attempt to evade the officer, narrowly missing a vehicle that was turning at southbound Bryant and 6th Street.

During the pursuit, the suspect vehicle attempted to turn onto W. 11th Street, and as a result of a wide right turn, collided with a 2002 Ford Mustang that was stopped at a stop sign.  The driver of the Charger did not stop to render aid to the occupants and continued to flee.  The Mustang's  three occupants were not injured during the collision.

Officers observed the suspect's vehicle fail to stop at a stop sign at 11th Street and Martin Luther King Drive.  The officer stopped for the stop sign, and when it was clear to proceed, continued to pursue the suspect vehicle before losing sight of the Charger near the area of 12th and N. Farr Street. The Charger was soon located abandoned in the 200 block of W.12th Street.  Although officers never saw the driver's face during the pursuit, witnesses at the scene told officers they saw a Hispanic male run from the vehicle.

A perimeter was established and the surrounding area was searched but the suspect was never located.

Investigators have identified a 26-year-old male as the suspect, but his name is not being released due to the ongoing investigation.  SAPD believes that the suspect fled due to outstanding Felony Warrants.

SAPD will release more information when it becomes available.

Sorry, just couldn't help notice the cute little house in the background of this picture. I get a kick out of seeing the Christmas decorations still up in February (I'm assuming this is a recent picture) and the high-end washer and dryer on the front porch. Nice!
It's crazy that this house has a new free exterior, thanks too the cities annual we will fix your house because it looks bad and it also makes our town look bad, but they can't help them with the roof that probably leaks... The washer and dryer probably don't fit through the tiny doors!!
What a bunch of stuck up prigs. Do you know for certain all that stuff you are saying? We don't know the circumstances of the home owners. Geez go crawl back into your mansions and leave them alone.
That home, while small, looks well taken care of. Look at the lawn. And I had my outside Christmas decorations up until just a couple of weeks ago. You people are way too high and mighty for my little town. Y'all better move to Highland Park or River Oaks. They keep the low-rents outta those neighborhoods, that should make you feel more comfortable. Those comments are more embarrassing than that home.
Good for you. FYI, the correct spelling is "classy" but I guess y'all are too busy being "classey" to care about that. And for what it's worth, that looks like the most nicely maintained of all the houses on that block which are visible in the photos. This is San Angelo, people. Kinda depressed about the comments from good old, friendly, down-to-earth San Angeloans. I guess that's another myth busted.
Its sad there is a wanted felon on the loose and all you care about is CHRISTmas decorations. I pray God will soften your hearts. Prayers to th family of this man that is on the run. And prayers to him. I am in recovery and this man is desperate.
I don't know about the first few comments, but my second one was a joke. Don't let the internet ruin your day. And my "classy" comment was pointed at the first two posters, not the house.
I never said anything about the size of the house or put down the homeowner whatso ever!! I was only justifying the idea behind the rehab homes and what our tax dollars would rather spend money on cosmetics instead of roof repairs.. And yes I worked for the construction company who installed 90% of this siding for the city development. And for those worried about a felon on the run, WELCOME TO SAN ANGELO!! what's new??
Looks like we need to be worrying about finding the guy and not anything else. Please watch what you say about suicide, everyone has a family and granted that man that took his life needed to pay for his crimes. But if you ever have had someone you love commit suicide your life if forever changed and he does have a family. Suicide is a horrible, thing and a family and friends left behind deal with it daily, hourly and every minute. It never goes away, so please think before you speak.
