I’d never heard them cheer so loud, but Saturday night, at The Steel Penny, Mothers Anthem played a set that could make any person’s leg shake. The chairs had been cleared and the floor was packed full; you had to wonder if these guys knew what it was like to write a bad song.

It had been awhile since San Angelo had been treated to an MA show, and a lot has developed in their camp. The band are currently wrapping up the in-studio process for their forthcoming album, and will begin designating tracks for the album before too long.

Also in the works is a live DVD session, which is slated for an April 5 recording in Austin. RSVP info is available on the band’s MySpace and you’ll want to sign up quick. Once these guys hit the ground, they’re going to be running the whole nine and then some.

Check out my podcast (coming soon) with Kirk Baxley to learn more about Mothers Anthem’s developments, and check out the band’s MySpace at myspace.com/mothersanthem.
