Josh started playing acoustic open mic nights at The Blue Light in Lubbock, TX with his fraternity brother Austin (banjo) in January 2006. After a month or two of that, people took notice and told him to get a band together. So he called up two more fraternity brothers (Drew-drums, Neel-Bass) and it just took off from there. They recorded an LP in December 2006, and even went a step further and recorded a music video for a competition on CMT.com! They beat out over 800 other contestants to make the top countdown in Feb/March 2007. After that they picked up road shows and had some moderated success with their first single release called "Buried Me." Over the past few months they've added a fiddle player (Will) and replaced the bass (Seth) for a sound that's really starting to take off. They've played shows with Pat Green, Randy Rogers Band, Eli Young Band, Cory Morrow, Wade Bowen, Matt Martindale, Rich O'Toole, Stoney LaRue, and many other artists. They just released their favorite live song, "Taste," as a single. For more, see www.joshabbottband.com.
