Zack Huckabee is also no stranger to Blaine’s Pub or San Angelo. As a youngster, Zach Huckabee was forever playing around with his grandmother’s guitars and at ten years old she finally made him a deal: Learn to play one and it’s yours. A month later Zach had his first axe and he’s never looked back; coming a long way from his first few cords, to learning his first song, a Bob Willis tune, entitled “Deep Water,” to the present, where he tours with a tight threesome, playing the country music circuit.
At 82 years young, Grandma Huckabee is still playing Texas Swing with three different bands and Zach, although he only has one, is strumming-up a storm throughout the state.
The Huckabees, who have ancestral ties to Ireland and family in San Angelo, come from Lampasas, Texas. “It’s convenient to the circuit,” say mother/manager, Mama Huckabee.
It’s a family affair with Zack’s wife, Krysta, featured in a provocative pose on the cover of Zach’s CD, Tequila Angel. In the photo she’s wearing a pair of wings and a half-empty bottle of booze with absolutely zero accessories.
