Emory Quinn on Texas Music Education
- Emory Quinn Band lead guitarist Nathan Rigney

Nate Rigney
Emory Quinn is the name of the band, not the front man as many Texas country music acts are known. The two words Emory and Quinn are actually the middle names of the two close friends, Nathan Emory Rigney and Clint Quinn Bracher. The two were dorm mates at Texas A&M and cut their teeth on the early 2000s music scene in College Station.
Usually you talk to the lead singer in these kinds of interviews, but I wanted to find out more about the musical genius behind the scenes, the lead guitarist (and the lead player of many other instruments) is Nate Rigney. He's the one that provides Clint Bracher the backdrop, or canvas, to lay down his poetry.
Nate took an unusual journey to the Red Dirt scene. He was a Texas All-State violist (for those from Del Rio, a viola is slightly larger violin) and among the best high school classical musicians in the entire state. He played the viola in the Texas state youth orchestra in 1996 and 1997, and played in Carnegie Hall in New York City in 1998.
How does all of this translate to three chords and a twang? Listen and find out. Texas country music is a whole lot more interesting when you're orchestrating it like a string quartet.
