Frichter was 3-for-4 with three runs scored and an RBI, and Rodriguez was 4-for-5 with three runs scored, two RBIs, and was a triple short of the cycle.

Demont Burdine, Southwestern (Kansas) grad and former Stampede player, was promoted to coach the Stampede last October. We caught up with him during the off season to see how he’s preparing to debut the team lineup on Feb. 26—“The day of the new Stampede,” as Burdine calls it.

High school football in West Texas has roots in more violent versions of the game of years past, but today’s coaches say that there is much more to the game than that.
The San Angelo Colts (18-16) fell back to eight games out of first place after losing to the league-leading Alexandria (Louisiana) Aces (26-8) 4-3 in the opener of a three-game series Tuesday night at Bringhurst Field. After Thursday’s series finale, Henschel has now it done twice, as the Colts beat the Aces 5-2 to avoid a four-game series sweep.
