Texas Congressman Condemns Biden's Drilling Ban

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congressman Tony Gonzales (TX-23) today released the following statement, condemning President Biden’s ban on drilling on federal land. President Biden signed executive orders issuing a freeze on new oil and gas leasing and permitting on federal land for one year, and a second freeze on new coal leasing and permitting on federal land for three years.

“President Biden is actively destroying oil and gas jobs right in front of our eyes,” said Congressman Gonzales. “First, he halted the Keystone Pipeline and now he is stopping drilling on federal lands. I’m failing to see how he will unify the country when the administration’s top priority is killing energy jobs.”

President Biden’s misguided executive order demands that the Department of the Interior “pause” new oil and gas leasing on public lands and offshore waters. The executive order goes a step further and orders the Department of Interior to also review current leasing and permitting practices “related to fossil fuel development,” on federal lands. According to the American Petroleum Institute (API), the ban is set to cost 1 million American jobs and $9 billion in U.S. government revenue. In Texas alone, 120,000 jobs and $65 million in state revenue is at risk.

One million jobs and $9 billion in U.S. revenue! You demo libs are pretty quiet lately what’s wrong? Things not working out the way you thought? We conservatives warned you about this happening guess it all fell on deaf ears ;)

Working out very well actually. Protecting the environment from this kind of thing should be a very high priority. The only people griping are rich oil people anyway.

A bit off topic, but details coming out about what REALLY happened in DC on Jan. 6. According to a Jan. 4 article from dc.ng.mil “ Approximately 340 (NG) personnel will support the city government Jan. 5-7 by providing crowd control at several Metro stations and assist police with street closures at multiple intersections to provide safety in and around pedestrian areas.”

Maj. Gen. William J. Walker, commanding general of the DC National Guard: “At the request of Mayor Muriel Bowser...our main mission is augmenting select traffic control points and metro stations identified by the Metropolitan Police Dept.”

So whose failure was it to protect the Capital during the so-called “insurrection”? Mayor Bowser had 340 NG troops available to her, and she put them on TRAFFIC CONTROL?

So the terrorist republicans attempt (and fail, like always) to overthrow the government and install a dictator, of which there is no argument ( everyone there was waving trump flags and had red hats on/ "stop the steal".) And you blame someone else for not stopping it quick enough? What a fantasy world you live in. So if Someone is murdering someone and the police don't respond fast enough because they are on another call, the murderer should get off scott free? You republican terrorists are more delusional then I thought.

Not trying to deflect blame. Just pointing out if there would have been a greater police presence, both at the Capital and during the months long BLM/Antifa riots, a lot of what happened could have been avoided.

Also stop with the “terrorist” bs all that does is prove how truly foolish you are ;)

Also according Maj. Gen. Walker...Pentagon officials restricted the commander of DC National Guard’s authorities ahead of the Capital incident...which meant he could not immediately deploy troops when the Capital police chief called asking.

According to a Jan. 6 article from The Hill...”A Pentagon timeline of events says it took roughly an hour and a half to approve the Guard’s deployment on Jan. 6 after requests were made by Capital police and Mayor Bowser”.

“So if someone is murdering someone and the police don’t respond fast enough because they are on another call, the murderer should get off scot free?”

Guessing reading comprehension is not your strong suit. Not once have l attempted to justify the illegal acts at the Capital...in fact I said all along it was wrong.

You, on the other hand, have never ONCE said the same thing when it comes to the months long BLM/Antifa riots.

“Better to remain silent and be thought a fool, than to speak and remove all doubt.”

Your call.

If you feel that strongly about “protecting the environment” you should do your part and don’t drive a car. Assuming you’re old enough for a license some of your comments make me wonder.
