WATER VALLEY, TX –– Minutes after 4:00 p.m. first responders were dispatched to Hwy 87 N near the rest stop near Water Valley for reports of a motor vehicle crash.

Initial scanner reports indicated an 18-wheeler had been involved in a rollover crash.

When first responders arrived at the scene, they advised the 18-wheeler had gone into the ravine and advised AirMed1 was needed at the scene.

Reporters at the scene observed substantial damage to the guard rail on the southbound side of the highway. The damage appeared to indicate the 18-wheeler had crashed through the guardrail and down to the ravine.

The 18-wheeler was not visible to passing motorists and a plethora of first responders were present at the scene –– including DPS troopers, Tom Green County Sheriff's Office deputies, Water Valley Volunteers, and Sterling City EMS.
