Popular Republican Congresswoman Killed in Car Crash

 

Elkhart, IA – A Republican U.S. Congressional Representative from Indiana Rep. Jackie Walorski was killed in a car crash Wednesday.

From the Elkhart County Sheriff’s Office, “On August 3, 2022, at approximately 12:32 p.m., the Elkhart County Sheriff’s Office responded to a two-vehicle crash on SR 19 south of SR 119. A northbound passenger car traveled left of center and collided head on with a southbound sports utility vehicle. All three occupants in the southbound vehicle died as a result of their injuries.

Those three individuals were Republican Rep. Jackie Walorski, Zachery Potts, and Emma Thomson.

The driver in the northbound vehicle, Edith Schmucker, was killed as well.

Walorski represented Indiana’s 2nd Congressional district and served on the House Ways and Means Committee. She was first elected in 2012 and previously served three terms in the Indiana state legislature.
