AUSTIN, TX –– After months of uncertainty, actor Mathew McConaughey has finally announced he will not be running for governor of the Lone Star State.

In the last year, the Uvalde native had played around with the idea to run against Governor Greg Abbott in next year's election but had not made any official announcement.

Taking to Twitter, McConaughey explained his decision to not enter the political arena.
