ASU Wind Ensemble Sets Final Fall Concert for Sunday

 

SAN ANGELO, TX - The Angelo State University Wind Ensemble will present its final concert of the fall season on Sunday, Nov. 16, in ASU's Elta Joyce Murphey Auditorium located inside the Mayer Administration Building at 2601 W. Ave. N.

Titled "Over the Hills and Far Away," the concert will begin at 2:30 p.m. and is free and open to the public. The musical program will include:

  • "Rocky Point Holiday" by Ron Nelson
  • Children's March: "Over the Hills and Far Away" by Percy Grainger
  • "O Magnum Mysterium" by Morten Lauridsen
  • "Profanation" from "Jeremiah Symphony" by Leonard Bernstein
  • "Los Bailes Calientes" by William Owens
  • "First Light" by David Maslanka
  • "The Falls" by Rossano Galante

The ASU Wind Ensemble features 50 student musicians performing on various woodwind, brass and percussion instruments. It is directed by Dr. Jonathan Alvis, ASU director of bands.

On Monday, Nov. 17, the Wind Ensemble will also embark on a three-day performance and recruiting tour that includes 10 stops at eight high schools in the San Antonio area.
