LAS VEGAS, NV — San Angelo cowboy Ty Harris finished in the money for the first time at this year’s National Finals Rodeo with a third-place finish in tie-down roping.
Harris roped his calf in 7.4 seconds, earning him $21,882 and moving him from 13th place to 10th in the overall standings with $169,079.02 in season earnings.
This is the seventh appearance at the NFR for Harris, who finished in fourth place last year.
San Angelo’s other two competitors in the field — Joel Harris and Dylan Hancock — each finished out of the money.
Joel Harris was eighth place in a time of 8.0 seconds, while Hancock was 14th in 18.2 seconds.
Hancock fell from third place in the overall standings to fourth with $211,281.13. Joel Harris remains in seventh overall with $185,748.65.
Hancock tied for first in Friday’s round, and Joel Harris was second in the opening round Thursday.
Denton’s Riley Webb won Saturday’s round in 7.4 seconds, giving him $36,668 and increasing his lead in the overall standings to $370,429.63.
Clovis, New Mexico’s Shad Mayfield had pulled within $2,000 of Webb after tying for the win Friday. Mayfield took fourth Saturday and now trails by nearly $23,000.
Round 4 of the 10-round NFR will continue Sunday at the Thomas & Mack Center in Las Vegas.
