Emilio Menchaco Gonzales

Emilio Menchaca Gonzales, 83, gained his wings and went to be with his Lord and Savior on Monday, April 6, 2026, in San Angelo.

 

Memorial services will be 10:00 AM Monday, April 13, 2026, at Robert Massie Riverside Chapel with Chaplain Kelly Self, quartermaster, Post 1815, officiating. Cremation and arrangements are under the direction of Robert Massie Funeral Home.

 

Mr. Gonzales was born December 19, 1942 in Eldorado to Jesus and Maria Gonzales. Emilio was a San Angelo resident where he attended school before moving to New Orleans, Louisiana at the age of 16. Emilio worked for the parking sector in downtown New Orleans. Emilio retired after five decades of services as a long-term valet attendant, making him one of the oldest staples in the French Quarter and Central Business District. After Emilio retired he left behind a legacy as one of the most recognizable and venerated fixtures in the French Quarter and Central Business District. After residing for more than 50 years in New Orleans, Emilio moved back to San Angelo after Hurricane Katrina hit, August of 2005.

 

Survivors include two sisters, Florita G. Gatica of Bedford, and Magdalena Golden of San Antonio; numerous nieces and nephews. Emilio was preceded in death by his parents; four sisters, Paulita G. De La Rosa, Anita Hernandez, Catatina Gonzales, and Emeteria Gonzales Chacon; two brothers, Vincente Gonzales and Mario Gonzales.

 

Emilio will remain in the families hearts forever, he will be dearly missed.

Roy Clinton McIntyre

Roy Clinton McIntyre, age 90, passed away April 10, 2026 in San Angelo, Texas.

Roy was born January 25, 1936, 20 miles south/west of Paint Rock, Texas to Lee Roy and Vada Crumbley McIntyre.

After graduating high school Roy joined the United States Air Force in 1956. He then served four years before being honorably discharged in 1960.

He was one of the mechanics responsible for installing ejection seats in the Lockheed U2, commonly known as the Dragon Lady.

On May 7, 1966 in Clovis, New Mexico he married Fern Cross. Roy and Fern settled in San Angelo, Texas, where he worked at Wendland Manufacturing for more than 40 years. Roy enjoyed hunting and fishing throughout his life.

He was proceeded in death by his wife, Fern, parents Lee Roy and Vada, one brother, Billy, and one sister, Barbara.

He is survived by one sister Nelda, and two brothers, Bennie and Dale, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Shirley Ann Halfmann, 90, of Robert Lee, Tx was called to her eternal home in heaven on April 7, 2026 in San Angelo, Tx.

Rosary service will be held Saturday, April 11 at 9:30 am with the funeral services at 10 am at Sacred Heart Cathedral - 20 E. Beauregard Ave., San Angelo, Tx. Burial will follow on Tuesday, April 14 at 10 am at Paint Creek Cemetery - 8.5 miles West of Robert Lee, Tx on SH158. Arrangements by Harper Funeral Home and Crematory - San Angelo, Tx.

Shirley Ann was born December 24, 1935 in Eola, Tx to Adam and Pauline (Hollas) Michalewicz. She graduated from San Angelo Central High School and married David Joseph Halfmann on May 29, 1954 in San Angelo, Tx at Sacred Heart Cathedral. Together, they had 5 children, David Jr., Roy, Susan, Victoria, and Patrick, and raised them in Lamesa, Tx. There, she worked as a bookkeeper for many years with Lamesa Butane and Lamesa Apparel. Upon their retirement, her and David moved to Robert Lee, Tx. She enjoyed fishing and gardening and cooking for her family. She loved to sew and made many keepsakes for her family and friends. She was a faithful member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Robert Lee, Tx.

She was met in Heaven by her husband, David Joseph Halfmann, parents, Adam and Pauline (Hollas) Michalewicz, siblings Ernest Michalewicz, James Michalewicz, Rose Lee Schulz and Lorene Wilde, daughter Victoria Lee (Halfmann) Cantu and grandsons Charlton Jacob Loftin and Nathan Ross Halfmann.

She lives on in the hearts of her sister Betty Simon of Albuquerque, NM, sister-in-law Evelyn Michalewicz, sons David J. Halfmann Jr. of Robert Lee, Tx, Roy Halfmann and wife Susan of Lamesa, Tx and Pat Halfmann and wife Teresa of Pottsboro, Tx, daughter Susan Loftin and husband Gene of Sundown, Tx, her grandchildren Stacia Loftin-Coleman, April Loftin-Garbay, Kimberly Halfmann, Sabra Shea (Cantu) Kuehner, Brian Halfmann and Jonathan Halfmann, and great grandchildren Ariel Loftin, Kaydence Loftin, Avery Goad, Mia Coleman, Zayd’n Coulter, Nikki Garbay, Mavie Garbay, and great great grandchild Oakley McWhorter, along with numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

Memorials may be given to St. Jude Children’s Hospital in lieu of flowers.

Scott Steven Trent

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Scott Steven Trent, 53, on April 6, 2026, in San Angelo, Texas.

Scott was born on June 18, 1972, in Odessa, Texas, to Nyane Chalker and Billy Trent.

Scott was stubborn, strong-willed, and very much his own person. He was not always easy, but those who truly knew him also knew he had a big heart and would help anyone he could. Beneath his rough edges was someone who cared deeply and left a lasting impression on the people who knew him.

Earlier in life, Scott traveled across the country building cell phone towers and enjoyed collecting sports cards and memorabilia, often attending shows around the country.

Though life brought many challenges, Scott will be remembered for more than the hard times. He will be remembered for his toughness, his heart, and the memories he leaves behind with those who loved him.

Scott is survived by his mother, Nyane Chalker; his father, Billy Trent; his brothers, Michael Trent and Jason Trent; his sister, Amy Dunshee; his daughters, Sierra Trent and Carolina Trent; and his grandchildren, Emmett Cowgill and Frankie Trent.

He will be deeply missed by his family and all who knew and loved him.

No services will be held at this time.

Mei Chih Proctor

Mei Chih Lin Proctor, 87, of Pearland, Texas, passed away surrounded by family on April 4, 2026. She was born in Taiwan on December 9, 1938, a daughter of Lin Tung Pan and Lin Hsui Yan Wang. Hers was a life defined by courage, love, and an unwavering devotion to family.

Mei Chih was a woman of remarkable spirit. She dreamed of adventure and saw much of the world, traveling throughout Europe, Asia, and the United States, carrying with her a lifelong curiosity and love of learning.

She was enormously proud of the life she built in the United States. Over the course of her lifetime, she purchased four homes—a testament to her grit and financial independence. Her 23-year career at Ethicon was more than a job — it was a living lesson to her children in the principles of hard work and conscientiousness. Her greatest source of pride was her family. She made certain that each of her children graduated from college, all eventually earning graduate degrees, supporting them with an unshakeable belief in the power of education.

She was, above all, a gentle soul—endlessly generous, selfless, deeply principled, and possessed of a quiet strength that anchored everyone around her. Her dedication to family and the strength of her values leaves a legacy that will be felt for generations.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Clay Dean Proctor of Wilmeth, Texas. Treasured mother of Sue (David) Espe of Scottsdale, Arizona; Meichihko (Allan) Barnard of Leander, Texas; Diana Marie Proctor of Pearland, Texas; and Thomas Nelford of Brooklyn, New York; devoted grandmother of grandchildren Tyler (Tasha) Espe (great-grandchildren Lilly, Lila, Anna), Thomas Espe, Spencer Espe, Meiko Barnard, Max Barnard, and Macy Barnard and cherished pet Lucy Proctor. She was preceded in death by one sister and survived by five sisters and one brother.

A funeral service will be held on Monday, April 13, 2026, at 3:00 p.m. at Fairmount Cemetery in San Angelo, TX, near the Saint Francis statue. The service will be officiated by Kirt Dauphin. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Harper Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to the Alzheimer’s Association are kindly suggested in her honor.

Jerry Neal Lay

Jerry Neal Lay, 86, of San Angelo, Texas, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Saturday, April 4, 2026. He was born on October 17, 1939, in San Angelo, Texas, to Thomas Owen Lay and Sara Louise Rich.

 

 

He married his beloved wife, Betty Joyce, on June 10, 1990, joining their families and sharing 36 wonderful years together. Together, they built a life filled with love and laughter, leaving a lasting legacy for their children and grandchildren.

 

 

Jerry lived a life rooted in faith, love, and service. He proudly served his country in the United States Army. He enlisted in 1957 and attended basic training at Fort Polk, Louisiana. During his service, he spent three years stationed in Germany. His enlistment concluded in 1962 at Fort Sam Houston, Texas. He was honorably discharged with the rank of Specialist Fourth Class (SP4), a reflection of his dedication and commitment to duty.

 

 

A member of the Lake View High School Class of 1958, Jerry worked in sales for most of his life and cherished the lasting relationships he built with coaches throughout the area. Jerry loved his family fiercely and rarely missed an opportunity to attend his grandchildren's events. He never passed up a good estate sale or antique shop and enjoyed attending San Angelo sporting events, especially the ASU Ram baseball games. He also enjoyed coaching Sterling's youth baseball teams, had such pride watching Stacy play basketball, and spent many years cheering on the Central Bobcats alongside Betty, Gene, and Sondra. Most evenings were spent watching baseball together, with Betty cheering for the Texas Rangers and Jerry favoring the Houston Astros. Their good-natured rivalry was a constant in their home and a reminder of the joy they found in the simple moments.

 

 

He is survived by his loving wife, Betty Lay; his children, Stacy Gonzalez and Greg McCall and wife, Lavonne; his cherished grandchildren, Leddy Priddy and husband, Matt, Amber Hebert and husband, Brandon, Landon McCall and wife, Kelci, and Britni Duarte and husband, Matt. Nothing brought him more joy than his great-grandchildren, Kaleigh, Conner, Kinsleigh, Finnley, Rhett, Rhynn, Sterling, Andi, Ava, and Owen. He is also survived by his sister, Janell Morse; brother-in-law, Reuben Stewart; sisters-in-law, Sondra Lay, Joanne Hudson, and Linda Atkinson; and a special family friend, JB Farris. He will also be deeply missed by many beloved nieces, nephews, cousins, and lifelong friends.

 

 

Awaiting him in Heaven are his parents; his sons, Sterling Neal Lay and Danny Wade McCall; his great-granddaughter, Tessa Grace McCall; his brothers, JH, Walter, Gene, Milburn, and Alfred Lay; and his sisters, Terry Lazicki, Betty Compton, and Becky Edwards.

 

 

The family will receive friends on Sunday, April 12, 2026, from 4:00-6:00 p.m. at Robert Massie Funeral Home in San Angelo, Texas. Graveside services will be held on Wednesday, April 15, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. at Cedar Hill Cemetery in Ozona, Texas, with family and friends invited to attend.

 

 

The family would like to extend their deepest gratitude to the doctors and nurses at Shannon Medical Center ICU for the exceptional care, compassion, and dignity they showed Jerry and his family. Their kindness will never be forgotten.Though our hearts are heavy, we rejoice in knowing that Jerry-Dad, Grandad, GranJerry-is now at peace, reunited with the Lord and his loved ones. His legacy of faith, love, and devotion will live on in all who knew him.

David was born October 3, 1974 in San Angelo to David and Juanita Gonzales Martinez, Sr.

 

David was many things to those who loved him, a devoted husband, proud father, and a deeply caring grandfather. He had a quiet strength and a generous heart that touched everyone he met. Always ready to lend a hand, David was the kind person you could count on; helpful, humble and kind in every way. His happiest moments were spent with his family and out by the water with a fishing pole in hand, where he found peace and joy in the simple beauty of life.

 

David is survived by his loving wife, Nicole Martinez; his daughter Brittany Ferrare and her husband Patrick; his son, David Martinez III; his treasured grandson, Matthew; his granddaughter, Arya, who always brought a sparkle to his eye and joy to his heart; his beloved mother, Juanita Gonzales Soto; his father, David Martinez Sr. and his wife Debbie; his siblings, Eric Martinez, Jessica Martinez, Terrie Crislip and her husband Andrew; Anthony Martinez and his wife LaRita. Each of them carries a piece of his warmth, humor, and love that will never fade.

 

David will be remembered for the way he could make anyone feel at ease, his patience, and the light he brought into everyday moments. Though he may no longer walk beside us, his love and memory will forever guide our hearts.

 

Gone Fishing, but never FORGOTTEN.

Ernest Earl Penfield

Ernest Earl Penfield, 94, passed away on Good Friday, April 3, 2026 in San Angelo, Texas.

Ernest was born on October 5,1931 to Melvin and Myrtle (Southard) Penfield. He and his four older sisters, Zella, Lola, Olive and Elsie grew up on Hanson's Mesa in Hotchkiss, Colorado. Ernest earned the rank of Eagle Scout and camped with his Boy Scout Troop in the Colorado Rockies and Yellowstone National Park. He graduated from Hotchkiss High school in 1948 and joined the Colorado National Guard. In 1949, Ernest joined the U.S. Air Force, attended Syracuse University to study Russian and was a Russian Linguist during his military career.

Ernest married Marie Rose Shepherd at Christ Church, in South Kensington, England on October 9, 1954; and together shared 72 years. During Ernest’s military years he and his family lived in England, Germany, Turkey, California and Texas. In 1970 Ernest retired as a Senior Master Sergeant while stationed at Goodfellow AFB. After retirement he and Marie owned and operated Weathersbee Electric; retired again then opened Penfield Electric. He retired at age 70; and he and Marie then traveled and enjoyed the good life together. Besides traveling, Ernest enjoyed many varied hobbies; such as photography, gem stone cutting, wood working and many more.

Ernest is survived by his wife Marie and daughters Gina Pecina (Greg) and Sally Lowe(Nick). He will be missed by his grandchildren Michael Pecina (Michelle), Amanda Higgins (Steve), Corey Gilbert(Monica), David Pecina(Leann), and Christy Lara (Vaughn). And His great grandchildren Pilar, Marek, Lena, Sebastian, Ty, Levi, Cade, Konner, Isaiah, Sean and Abbie.

Funeral services will be held at Emmanuel Episcopal Church on Monday, April 13, 2026 at 2pm in San Angelo, Texas.
