Texas DPS Identifies Man Killed After Stolen Semi Crashed into Brenham Office

BRENHAM, TX - The Texas Department of Public Safety identified the man who died after a stolen 18-wheeler was rammed into its Brenham office.

The man who died was identified as Bobby Huff, 78. 

He was one of six people who were taken to the hospital after the crash on Friday. 

Three of the six were taken to nearby hospitals by ambulance and were released within hours of the crash. 

The three others, including Huff, were flown to nearby hospitals. 

Huff died, and the other two remain at the hospital in critical condition, but they are stable, DPS reported.

Clenard Parker, 42, is accused of stealing the big rig from Chappell Hill, which is about 15 minutes away from Brenham.

When law enforcement spotted the stolen big rig, they tried to get Parker to stop, but he took off and eventually crashed into the Texas DPS office in Brenham.

At one point, Parker drove the big rig out of the DPS office and had intentions of crashing through the building again, but he was taken out of the driver's seat by law enforcement and put in handcuffs. 

The impact of the crash injured 14 people in total. The eight that were not taken to hospitals were treated on scene and released.

Parker was not hurt. He was taken to Washington County Jail, where he remains after being charged with three counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon causing serious bodily injury, one count of evading arrest or detention causing serious bodily injury, and one count of unauthorized use of a vehicle.

DPS states that Parker drove the 18-wheeler into the Brenham office after he was denied a commercial driver's license renewal the day before. 

The DPS office in Brenham remains closed for an undetermined amount of time.
