Jimmy Dean Bryant, 74, passed away on Friday, August 7, 2015 in San Angelo. He was born to the late, Elijah Turnam and Lula Mae Hunt Bryant on Wednesday, February 26, 1941 in Gainesville, Texas. Jimmy married Barbara Ann "Bobbie" Fry on July 6, 1963 in Schleicher County, Texas. He retired after 20 years of service with the United States Army as an E-7, Sgt. First Class. He was a Vietnam veteran and extremely proud of his service to his country. Jimmy retired a second time as a water treatment operator some years later. He was a member of Word of Life Assembly of God Church, where he has served as head elder for the past 20 years. He was an avid sportsfan, especially of football and baseball. He enjoyed traveling both abroad and within the United States. His greatest joy has stemmed from his grandchildren. Jimmy's strong will and sense of honor will be missed greatly by all who knew and loved him. He was preceded in death by his parents; 5 brothers and 1 sister.
Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Barbara "Bobbie" Bryant; children, Jerry Dean Bryant, Deana Ann Orona, Jimmie Lynn Bryant, and Carrie Vondene Aschilean and her husband, Dorin; 7 grandchildren, Amanda, Aron, Alex, Andrei, Asher, Ryan and Adalynn; 3 great grandchildren, Gracie, Jacob and Lylah; siblings, Dearl Bryant and wife, Joyce, Charlie Bryant and wife, Pat, and Venita Thomas and husband, Cecil; numerous nieces, nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.
A time of visitation will be held from 6:00-8:00 PM, Monday, August 10, 2015 at the Johnson's Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM, Tuesday, August 11, 2015 at the Word of Life Assembly of God Church. Interment will follow in Fairmount Cemetery.
