Tom Green County Judge Steve Floyd gaveled his final meeting to a close Tuesday morning as he and Commissioner Bill Ford presided over their final meeting as Tom Green County Elected Officials during the regular meeting of the Tom Green County Commissioners Court.
"It's got a cop motor, a 440 cubic inch plant, it's got cop tires, cop suspensions, cop shocks. It's a model made before catalytic converters so it'll run good on regular gas. What do you say, is it the new Bluesmobile or what?"
Tom Green County Judge Steve Floyd acknowledged that the county doesn't have the resources to provide raises to match the 9.1% inflation much less the much larger increase in fuel, food and shelter without triggering a roll back election.
The annual budget process for taxing entities like counties, cities and school districts comes amid a year where record inflation of 9.1% has hit taxpayers hard. This high an inflation rate hasn't been seen in 40 years.
The District Clerks office will continue to work remotely until further notice. In light of working remotely for a 2nd week, we are working on a process to allow the public to visit and file documents in person at our temporary location.
