Marietta Reed Green went to be with her Lord and Savior on June 19, 2016 at the age of 93. She was born on April 24, 1923 to Lova and Emily Reed in Prairie Creek, Indiana. She was the oldest of four siblings. She married James H. Green on July 29, 1945 in Terre Haute, Indiana.
Marietta was devoted to her family and her church. She taught Sunday school for 45 years at Johnson Street Church of Christ.
She is preceded in death by her husband James H. Green, daughter Jeanette Green , and sister Ruth Jean Halberstadt. Survivors include her two sons: Jim and David, along with their families, including five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. She also leaves behind her sister Helen, brother Lloyd, brother-in-law Howard, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A celebration of Marietta's life is at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, June 24, 2016 at Johnson Street Church of Christ with Tommy King officiating. Burial will follow in Fairmount Cemetery. Pallbearers for the service will be: Lt. Col. Cecil Strickland, Stephen Strickland, David Timm, Jeff Peizer, Brayden Peizer, and David Green, Jr. Arrangements are under the care and direction of Johnson's Funeral Home.
The family would like to thank Dr. Brewer and the wonderful nurses at San Angelo Community Medical Center. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Rust Street Ministries, Hospice of San Angelo, or a local charity of your choice.
