Dennis Lee Chowning of San Angelo passed away on Friday, April 25, 2025. After a 10-month battle with cancer, he died at home peacefully with his wife, daughter and son–in–law by his side.
Dennis was born June 14, 1942, in San Angelo, Texas to Eulis & Jewell Chowning. He attended Central High School and graduated in the class of 1960. Dennis then began his career as an Auto Rebuilder/Mechanic. Along with his love for cars, he had a love for horses and roping. He went into business for himself at “Chowning Automotive”. After owning his own business for several years, he was pursued by Al Ricci and Richard Russ to go to work full time for Talk O’ Texas. After 32 years as the Plant Manager, he retired but continued to help out from time to time until 2020. When Dennis wasn’t busy helping others with their projects, he spent time on his own. He was never without a project or two. He enjoyed working on, or rebuilding, his cars and restoring houses.
Dennis was also a proud member of Calvary Baptist Church.
He was married to the love of his life, Rosie Arms for 40 years.
