Jo Beth McKneely Fielder passed away peacefully on December 9, 2025, at the age of 97.
A devoted wife, mother, sister, and friend, Jo Beth lived a life marked by grace, steadfast faith, and deep love for family and community. She was the beloved wife of the late Gerald Fielder, with whom she shared a lifetime of partnership, service, and devotion. She was a loving mother to her children, Patrick Dale and Dorcas Elaine.
Jo Beth was born on August 13, 1928, to Claude and Lennie McKneely. Rooted in strong family values, she carried a quiet strength, warm hospitality, and genuine kindness that made others feel welcome in her presence. She later attended Baylor University, where she earned her degree in medical technology. It was there that she met Gerald Fielder, the love of her life. Together, they answered a calling to serve as missionaries in Japan, where they faithfully ministered for over 20 years. During this time, they built a life centered on faith, service, and raising their children.
She was a faithful member of Southland Baptist Church, where she was actively involved for many years. Jo Beth supported Gerald throughout his academic and ministry career and was a gracious host to students, colleagues, missionaries, and friends from around the world. Their home was often a place of lively conversation, encouragement, and Christian fellowship.
Those who knew Jo Beth remember her gentle spirit, her thoughtful encouragement, and her unwavering support of those she loved. Whether through a handwritten note, a warm meal, or quiet prayer, she expressed her faith in tangible and meaningful ways.
