Mildred C. King, a generous and hard-working soul, passed away on January 1, 2026, at the age of 102. Born on May 23, 1923, Mildred was a resident of San Angelo, Texas. Her life was marked by adventure and a deep commitment to her family and community.
Mildred earned a Bachelor's Degree from Angelo State University, which laid the foundation for her career as an elementary school teacher. She dedicated two decades to teaching at Sacred Heart and within the San Angelo Independent School District from 1967 to 1987, leaving a lasting impact on countless young minds.
Mildred was preceded in death by her beloved husband, William (Billy) King. She is survived by her son, Dan King and his wife Anne; her daughters, Susan King and Sally King; as well as her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren, who will continue to cherish her memory.
An adventurous spirit, Mildred found joy in traveling, fishing, quilting, sewing, needlepoint, growing African violets, reading, and baking. Her eagerness to explore new experiences was matched only by her readiness to volunteer for worthy causes.
Mildred was deeply involved in her community, contributing to Meals for the Elderly, the Women's Shelter, and the Piecemakers quilting group. She was also active in vacation bible school and the Daily Bread lunch program through Trinity Lutheran Church, along with various other charitable organizations.
Her legacy is one of family orientation and an unwavering commitment to service. Mildred's life will be celebrated at a committal service held at Johnson's Lawnhaven Memorial Gardens, located at 4989 FM Highway 1223, San Angelo, TX 76905, on January 16, 2026, from 2:00 pm to 3:00 pm.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to Meals for the Elderly or the Concho Valley Home for Girls.
Mildred C. King will be remembered for her adventurous spirit, generosity, and dedication to her community and family. Her memory will continue to inspire those who knew and loved her.
