Our beloved mother, Maria Caballero, 83, of San Angelo, Texas, was called to be with the Lord on March 5, 2026. She was born on June 22, 1942 in San Angelo, Texas to Alejandro and Flora Caballero. She graduated from ASU with a teaching degree and taught Business typing and shorthand for many years in South Texas, Mercedes High School.
She moved her family back to San Angelo in 1987 and worked until her retirement at West Texas Rehab where she brought joy and hope to the patients that she came in contact with. She spent her time crocheting, gardening, taking care of her great grandchild and praying her rosary.
Mary will be remembered for her deep faith in Christ and generous nature.
She was the proud mother of three children: Victoria Bermea, Esmeralda Robles and Rogelio Bermea Jr and blessed with grandchildren: David and Olivia Gandar, Veronica and Jonathan Robles, great grandchild Daisy Gandar. She is survived by her brothers and sisters: Julia Gonzalez and her husband Luis, Enedina DeLaGarza and her husband Gilbert, Alejandro Jr Caballero and his wife Lola, Carmen Aguirre and her husband Ruben, Ricardo Caballero and his wife Julieta.
She is preceded in death by her parents and dear brother, Alfredo Caballero. She will be deeply missed by her family and all who knew her.
Pallbearers for the service will be David Gandar, Jonathan Robles, Michael Gonzales, Anthony Gonzales, Daniel Gonzales and Sebastian Gonzalez.
A Rosary will be held on Wednesday, March 11, 2026, at 6pm in Johnson’s Funeral Home Chapel officiated by Ruben Aguirre.
Mass of Christian Burial will be Thursday, March 12, 2026 at 10 am at Sacred Heart Cathedral followed by burial at Calvary Cemetery.
