With much love and appreciation for a well lived life, we announce the passing of Rosemarie Elizabeth Elcavage, aged 87 on Easter Sunday, April 5, 2026, in Eldorado, Texas. Rosemarie was born in Stockton, New Jersey on April 4, 1939, to John J. Suozzo and Mary (Minnie) Elizabeth Welsh Suozzo.
Rosemarie graduated from Lambertville High School and continued her education, receiving a cosmetology certification. Rosemarie was a fun-loving young lady who enjoyed going to dance halls with her friends and could be found racing stock cars in Powder Puff races on weekends.
Rosemarie met her husband of 65 years, Alexander Christopher Elcavage, on a blind date. She married her handsome, Air Force serviceman in Fort Dix, New Jersey on December 31, 1960. They moved to Tucson, Arizona and began a family.
Rosemarie spent most of her life in Stockton, New Jersey, raising her family and contributing to her beloved Stockton community. She was an active volunteer with Stockton Elementary school and served as their PTO president. Rose was a devout Catholic who loved her faith. She undertook various volunteer functions at Saint Agnes Mission Church and was a long-time member of the Rosary Altar Society.
Rosemarie cherished time with her family and would collaborate with her sisters to host parties full of fun, delicious food and family laughter. As one of her great nephews lovingly stated, Aunt Rose’s house was always the gathering place for any family event. Rose also enjoyed hosting barbeques and pool parties for her children and their friends.
Rosemarie took great pride in her yard and garden. It was said that she had green fingers as well as thumbs, so beautiful were her flowerbeds. Antique treasure hunting was another passion of Rosemarie. Rosemarie was a master ‘Thrifter’ before it became a mainstream hobby.
One of Rosemarie’s greatest pleasures was spending time with her granddaughters. Known as their beloved ‘Gi’, she was their greatest cheerleader. She enthusiastically supported them by attending every soccer game, dance recital, religious ceremony and graduation milestone she possibly could. She was immensely proud of each of “her beautiful girls”.
Rosemarie is survived by her husband of 65 years, Alexander Christopher Elcavage, her daughter Robin Corbitt and husband Jim, her son Christopher Elcavage and his partner Stella, her daughter Mary Elcavage and her daughter Alexanderia Nanni and her partner Steve. She is survived by four precious granddaughters, Sarah Corbitt, Dr. Shannon Corbitt, Dr. Shelby Corbitt and Talia Rose Elcavage; her sister-in-law Dorthea Suozzo and many much-loved nieces and nephews as well as her special gardening partner and friend Mary Laughlin.
She is predeceased by her parents, John J. Suozzo and Mary (Minnie) Elizabeth Welsh Suozzo, her brothers Joseph “Babe”, John, Richard “Bull”, Oliver “Juny”, and Anthony “Buddy”, her sisters Helen Smith, Maryann Albite and Agnes Foster.
Our family would like to thank the amazing staff of Schleicher County Nursing Home for their love and compassionate care of Rosemarie. A special thank you to her trusted friend and wingman, Oralia Pina (“My LaLa”) for her loving care and companionship. You were all a wonderful blessing to her.
