Emilio Menchaca Gonzales, 83, gained his wings and went to be with his Lord and Savior on Monday, April 6, 2026, in San Angelo.
Memorial services will be 10:00 AM Monday, April 13, 2026, at Robert Massie Riverside Chapel with Chaplain Kelly Self, quartermaster, Post 1815, officiating. Cremation and arrangements are under the direction of Robert Massie Funeral Home.
Mr. Gonzales was born December 19, 1942 in Eldorado to Jesus and Maria Gonzales. Emilio was a San Angelo resident where he attended school before moving to New Orleans, Louisiana at the age of 16. Emilio worked for the parking sector in downtown New Orleans. Emilio retired after five decades of services as a long-term valet attendant, making him one of the oldest staples in the French Quarter and Central Business District. After Emilio retired he left behind a legacy as one of the most recognizable and venerated fixtures in the French Quarter and Central Business District. After residing for more than 50 years in New Orleans, Emilio moved back to San Angelo after Hurricane Katrina hit, August of 2005.
Survivors include two sisters, Florita G. Gatica of Bedford, and Magdalena Golden of San Antonio; numerous nieces and nephews. Emilio was preceded in death by his parents; four sisters, Paulita G. De La Rosa, Anita Hernandez, Catatina Gonzales, and Emeteria Gonzales Chacon; two brothers, Vincente Gonzales and Mario Gonzales.
Emilio will remain in the families hearts forever, he will be dearly missed.
