Silverio "Silver" Castillo, 70, passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his loving family on Thursday, June 4, 2026.
A public viewing will be held from 9:00 AM until 8:00 PM and Funeral Service will be at 6:00 PM Saturday, June 6, 2026, at Robert Massie Riverside Chapel.
Silver was born on July 3, 1955, in Ciudad Acuña, Mexico. His mother was Juanita Castillo and his father was Jose Luis Hernandez. His stepfather, Juan Rangel. He made San Angelo his home in 1978 and married the love of his life, Mary Torrez, on July 21, 1979. Together they shared nearly 47 years of marriage, building a life centered on family and love.
Silver worked for Coca-Cola for eight years before beginning a 31-year career as a truck driver with Republic Services. He retired in 2019 after years of dedicated service and hard work.
Family was the center of Silver's life. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends, sharing stories, laughter, and good food only for a short time. He was especially known for his famous barbecue and beloved homemade beans. He shared a special bond with his grandson Nicholas and cherished every moment spent with family and friends. Silver was an avid soccer fan and enjoyed watching all kinds of sporting events. One of his proudest accomplishments was becoming a United States citizen in 2020.
He is survived by his devoted wife, Mary Castillo; his son, Luis Castillo and daughter-in-law Valerie; his daughter, Brenda Castillo and son-in-law Othniel; his nephew, Mario Torrez Jr., whom he helped raise as his own; four brothers; eight sisters; grandchildren Lexi, Anastasia, Nicholas and wife Zay, Camren, Jasi, Violet, Richard, Abby, Ally, and Amelia; and great-grandchildren Za'liyah, Celine, Daniel, Taelon, and Alaya.
Silver will be remembered for his kindness, strong work ethic, love for his family, and the countless memories he created with those who knew and loved him. His presence will be deeply missed, but his legacy will live on in the hearts of his family and friends forever.
