Throughout his life, Coco carried himself with a steady devotion to the people and responsibilities entrusted to him. He was known for a gentle presence and a kind-hearted way of treating others—qualities that were felt most deeply by those who knew him best and depended on him most.
Coco served in the National Guard and worked tirelessly to support his family. A hard-working man in every sense, he also worked as a sheep sheerer, meeting each day with perseverance and quiet pride in honest labor.
Family was at the center of Coco’s life. He is lovingly remembered by his wife, Joan Buskirk, his daughter, Rachel Wood, and the siblings he loved very much. His devotion also shone brightly in the joy he found in his grandkids, whom he loved dearly.
In his personal life, Coco found purpose and satisfaction in work that built and sustained. He enjoyed working hard, taking care of his animals, and building houses—simple, meaningful pursuits that reflected the steady care he brought to all he did.
Coco also gave of himself to his faith community, cleaning the church and mowing the grass at St. Theresa’s in Carlsbad. In these quiet acts of service, his gentle spirit and kind heart were plainly visible—offered without fanfare, and given with consistency.
Coco’s life leaves a legacy of devotion, steady labor, and a tenderness that will be remembered with gratitude and respect by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
