On Monday, June 8, 2026, at 2:08 a.m., at the age of 71, Alexander Gene Valles was called home to the Lord. Born on July 10, 1954, he was the beloved son of Leandro Sr. and Maria Jesus Valles and lived a life rooted in faith, service, and devotion to his family.
A faithful Catholic, Alex was a longtime parishioner of St. Mary's Catholic, where he served as Honorary Grand Knight and usher. His faith guided every aspect of his life, and he was known for his humility, kindness, and unwavering trust in God.
As a proud 3rd-degree member of the St. Mary's Council #13514, Alex embodied the principles of charity, service, unity, and family. He dedicated countless hours to Council #13514, always offering a helping hand to those in need. His brother knights remember him for his leadership, fellowship, and deep commitment to the Order.
He was a graduate of Central High School. He began his career as a meter reader for Concho Valley Electric Co-op and retired after 42 years, advancing to numerous positions. Alex loved fishing, barbecues, family gatherings, playing Loteria, cards, and his beloved cats.
Alex married the love of his life, Erlinda Flores, on September 20, 1975, and together they shared 50 years of marriage. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, cherishing every moment spent with them. His family will forever remember his gentle spirit, strong moral compass, and the joy he brought into their lives.
He survived by his wife, Erlinda (Linda); daughter, Cynthia Garcia; son, Amos Valles; his grandsons, Rene Garcia and Royce Garcia and Jasmine Ford of San Antonio; and his two adorable great-grandchildren, Noah Garcia and Avery Garcia. He also survived by his brothers, Leandro Valles, Jr and wife Celia and James Valles and wife Eva; sister-in-law, Erlinda T. Valles, and brother-in-law, Javier Galvan of Colorado Springs, Colorado. He is also survived by brothers-in-law, Ishmael Flores and Randy Flores and wife Brenda, and sister-in-laws, Maragret Diaz and Hope Lopez and husband Harold, Baldo Torres, plus numerous nieces and nephews who cherished him dearly.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his in-laws, Chrispina and Librado Flores, his sister, Soveida Galvan, his brother Richard Valles, his nephews, Brian Flores and Joseph Valles; his grandson, Roan Dean Garcia, brother-in-laws, Adam Flores, Isaac Flores, Oscar Flores, Robert Flores and Israel Flores, sister-in-laws, Helen Flores, Olga Flores, Rosalina Flores, and Maria Torres.
Viewing will be from 10:00 AM - 8:00 PM on Wednesday, June 10, 2026 at Robert Massie Riverside Chapel with a rosary being prayed at 6:00 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 AM on Thursday, June 11th, 2026 at St. Mary's Catholic Church, with Father Joey Faylona officiating. Interment will follow at Calvary Catholic Cemetery under the direction of Robert Massie Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Knights of Columbus, reflecting Alex's lifelong dedication to service and faith.
