Susie Mae "Sue" Keith was born on August 19, 1922, to John Kennedy and Frankie Powell. She spent her childhood in Fort Worth, Texas, where she attended school before relocating to San Angelo, Texas, to continue her education.
In the early 1960s, Sue answered her calling to care for others by pursuing a career in nursing. She graduated from nursing school as a Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) and devoted more than 60 years to serving others. As a proud member of the Texas Nurses Association, she exemplified professionalism, compassion, and excellence throughout her career. She worked at Shannon Hospital (Old Shannon) and the San Angelo State School, where she became known for her compassionate spirit and unwavering dedication to her patients. Zion Baptist Church, later attended St. Paul AME Church, and eventually united with St. Paul Baptist Church, where she faithfully served the Lord with a servant’s heart. Sue embraced life with joy and enthusiasm. She had an infectious sense of humor, loved making people laugh, and was always ready for a good time with family and friends. She was a devoted Dallas Cowboys fan who never missed an opportunity to cheer on her team. One of her greatest joys was spending summers with her granddaughters in San Angelo, creating memories they will cherish forever. Above all, Sue took great pride in her family and was a loving sister, devoted mother, cherished grandmother, adored great-grandmother, caring aunt, faithful friend, and beloved matriarch.
Sue leaves behind a lasting legacy of faith, love, compassion, laughter, and selfless service that will continue to inspire all who were blessed to know and love her.
