Paul Martinez, 81, of Eden, Texas, passed away on July 13, 2026.
He was born on August 24, 1944, in Lamesa, Texas, to Tom and Concepcion Rodgers and Conrado Martinez.
Paul is survived by one daughter, Melissa, and Israel Ortegon, Eden, Texas. Surviving Brothers: Tom and Martha Rodriguez of Lubbock, Texas, and Eddie Rodgers of Eden, Texas. Surviving sisters: Sylvia and Roger Guiterrez of San Angelo, Texas; Connie and Charlie Hernandez of Eden, Texas; Kathy Collins of Eden, Texas; and Renae Rodgers of Eden, Texas. He had 3 grandchildren, 18 nieces and nephews, and 30 great-nieces and great-nephews. Special recognition to his furry friend, Maggie May.
Paul was preceded in death by his parents, Tom and Concepcion Rodgers, and Conrado Martinez. sisters, Bertha Wells of Lubbock, Texas, and Olivia Torres of Eden, Texas. Brother Fred Rodgers of Eden, Texas, two nephews, David Espinosa of Eden, Texas, and Robert Ortega of Eden, Texas, and two brothers-in-law, Brint Collins of Eden, Texas, and Tom Wells of Lubbock, Texas.
Paul worked as a ranch hand for John Neal Hendricks for many years and was known for shearing sheep. Paul loved his family fiercely. So many memories he created with his loved ones, teaching some how to ride their bikes, fishing, frog hunting, and how to tend to a real garden. He was an avid sports fan, he loved his Dallas Cowboys and Texas Rangers, and he loved his western shows.
A celebration of life will be held on July 18, 2026, at 1 pm at the Multi-Purpose Center in Eden, Texas. Please come wearing your Dallas Cowboys or Texas Rangers gear and share your memories with everyone. If anyone has pictures they can share, that would also be great.
