Juan Flores, Sr. 89, of Mertzon passed away on Friday, July 24, 2026 surrounded by his family.
Viewing will be from 1:00 PM - 8:00 PM on Sunday, July 26, 2026 at Robert Massie Riverside Chapel with a rosary at 6:00 PM. Mass will be at 11:00 AM on Monday, July 27, 2026 at St. Peter's Catholic Church in Mertzon. Burial will follow in Mertzon Cemetery under the direction or Robert Massie Funeral Home.
Mr. Flores was born on December 27, 1937 to Jesus and Guadalupe Flores. Early in life, God blessed him with gifted hands. He spent his entire life working in many areas of construction, including, carpentry and rock setting. His specialty was concrete finishing. He made many storm cellars, driveways, cement slabs, and foundations. He leaves behind buildings and houses that still stand as proof of his hard work. Also many beautiful stone structures that we will cherish in our memories. He enjoyed fishing at Spring Creek. Juan married Ramona Gonzales on December 5, 1957 in Plainview.
He was a parish member of St. Peter's Catholic Church of Mertzon. He is a Sagrado Corazon de Jesús and a Cursillista.
Juan is survived by his loving wife of 69 years, Ramona Flores; their 4 children, Oscar Flores and wife Maribel of San Antonio, Juan Flores, Jr. and wife Angela of Merzon, Gilbert Flores and wife Rosemarie of San Angelo, and Lisa Gomez and husband Edmund of Lubbock; grandchildren, Maricelda "Marcy" Davis, Veronica Conaway, Stephanie Duncan, Carlos Flores, Jesus Flores, Christina Flores, Samantha Flores, Christopher Ridgeway, and Rebecca Ridgeway, 19 great grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren, and six siblings, Dolores Martinez, Vincente Flores, Olivia Rodriguez, Miguel Flores, Jessica Flores, and Jesus Flores, Jr.
He is preceded in death by, his parents Jesus and Guadalupe Flores, his infant daughter, Ida Flores, grandson, Juan Flores, III, siblings, Maria Subia, Elias Flores, Sr. Perfecta Aguero, Ramon Flores, Alberto Flores, and infant sister, Olivia Flores.
Pallbearers will be Elijah Davis, Iyran Davis, Jonathan Davis, Jr., Julian Hernandez, Jr., Devyn Pierson, Imiric Duncan, Noah Duncan, Graysen Duncan, Carlos Flores, Juan M. Flores and Jesus C Flores.
