Michael Edward Newlin, 79, of San Angelo, Texas, passed away on July 27, 2026.
Mike was born on February 21, 1947, in San Angelo, Texas, to Edward Ellison Newlin and Willa Margaret [Fowler] Newlin. A lifelong resident of San Angelo, he was deeply devoted to his family, his community, and the profession he loved.
He graduated from San Angelo Central High School in 1965 before attending Angelo State University, where he earned both a Bachelor's degree in Economics and a Master's degree in Biology. He also served his country for six years in the United States Army Reserves.
Mike married Sandra Newlin on December 28, 1973. Together, Mike and Sandy embarked on an adventure through New Mexico and Arizona, where Mike conducted field research on lizards for his master's thesis. They later settled in Oklahoma, where they worked on a ranch raising Beefmaster cattle, cultivated a large garden, and started a family.
In 1983, the family moved back to San Angelo, and Mike began his career in real estate. In 1998, he fulfilled his dream of owning his own brokerage, where he mentored agents, served clients, and established a reputation for honesty and integrity.
He is survived by his devoted wife, Sandy; his daughter, Jamie Newlin [Jacob Marit]; his sons, Ryan Newlin [Hailey Irons Newlin], and Jared [Brooke Boatright Newlin]; and his cherished grandchildren, Ellison, Morgan, and Clara, who brought him immeasurable joy. He is also survived by his cousins, Bob Fowler of San Diego, California, and Tom Fowler of North Carolina.
Some of his most cherished moments were with his beloved dogs, Copper and Simmer. Whether on hikes when visiting family and vacationing, long daily walks, or evenings on the back porch, listening to music, his companion was by his side.
Mike was known for his humor and genuine love for people. Exercising at the gym, planning a school reunion, mentoring agents, or sharing stories over a glass of wine, he made those around him feel valued. His legacy lives on through the family he cherished, the business he built, and the countless lives he touched.
By his request, a small graveside service for family will be held, and in lieu of flowers, consider a donation to the Concho Valley Food Bank, West Texas Rehab, or your favorite charity.
