Enedelia Rubio Valdez "Nene" "Deli"), 71, of San Angelo, Texas, went into the arms of Jesus and her mommy on August 3, 2026, at Shannon Medical Center after battling with chronic illness.
Viewing will be from 10:00 AM - 8:00 PM on Thursday, August 6, 2026 at Robert Massie Riverside Chapel with a rosary at 6:00 PM. Mass will be at 10:00 AM on Friday, August 7, 2026 at St. Joseph Catholic Church with Father Freddy Perez, officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Robert Massie Funeral Home. There will be no graveside service. Family and friends are invited to gather afterward at 502 Rio Concho Drive Convention Center to continue celebrating Delia's life together.
Delia was born on February 26, 1955, in Zaragoza, Coahuila, Mexico, to Guadalupe Suarez Rubio and Antonio M. Rubio.
She attended Glenn middle school through the 6th grade and loved to play basketball until she had to take responsibility and help her mother with her younger siblings like most big sisters would.
As a devoted Catholic, Delia was a woman of proverbs, dedicated and devoted her life to her faith and family.
On February 14, 1973, she married the love of her life, Juan P. Valdez. Together they built a beautiful family and raised three children: Anita Valdez, John Valdez, and Rosalinda "Rosie" Flores.
Throughout her life, Delia worked at GTE, Arbor Terrace Nursing Home, and Taylor Publishing, where she helped create yearbooks. On December 12, 2005, she received the miraculous gift of a kidney transplant in San Antonio, blessing her with 21 additional years to love her family, make memories, and continue sharing her faith.
Delia found joy in life's simple pleasures. She loved playing cards and bingo with her sisters, watching novelas, Caso Cerrado, and The Bold and the Beautiful. Whenever she had the chance, she enjoyed visiting the casino. Sundays were often spent cheering on the Dallas Cowboys with her family while drinking her favorite Diet Coke.
She also loved listening to music on YouTube and was especially excited when she received her first smart-phone and discovered Facebook, where she enjoyed keeping in touch with family and friends.
She is survived by her husband, Juan P. Valdez; her children, Anita Valdez, John Valdez, and Rosalinda Flores and husband Arturo; her eight beloved grandchildren, Ana Delia Valdez Bautista, Adrian Flores, Lizzet Flores, Xiomara Valdez, Roman Bautista, Esmee Flores, John Paul Valdez, and Molly Kay Flores, each of whom brought immense joy, love, and pride to her life. She was a Wela and Tia to numerous nieces and nephews whom she loved very much; she is also survived by her sisters, Dora Sandoval and husband Johnny, Juanita Gonzales, Margarita Garcia, Guadalupe Horton and husband David, Victoria (Candido) Guerrero, and Josie Hernandez, as well as her baby brother, Rey Rubio.
She was preceded in death by her beloved sister, Yolanda Talamantes; and her parents, Guadalupe Suarez Rubio and Antonio M. Rubio.
The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to the compassionate staff at Shannon Medical Center, especially Dr. Aleta, as well as the caring staff at Encompass Health, Regency House, and Saint Juanita.
Your love, prayers, and support mean so much to our family during this difficult time. Thank you for helping us honor and celebrate the life of our sweet Nona. Her faith, strength, kindness, and love will forever remain in our hearts.
