Stanley Vince Holik, Jr. was surrounded by family as he went to be with the Lord on August 25, 2026, following a battle with lymphoma. He was 83.
Stanley lived a life devoted to Jesus, his family, and farming. He was born on February 1, 1943, in San Angelo, Texas to Stanley Sr. and Ruby Filla Holik. He was raised with three younger brothers on his family’s farm in Wall, Texas, and began working on the farm at a young age before graduating from Wall High School in 1961. He served his country in the National Guard from 1963-1969 and continued the fulfilling work of growing cotton and maize, until his retirement at age 81. On May 22, 1971, he and Judy Krupala were married. Both being from third-generation farm families, Stanley and Judy often worked the farm together, especially during harvest season. Their loving marriage of 55 years was blessed with two daughters and four granddaughters, who brought them much joy. Stanley’s role as a husband, father, and grandfather was marked by unconditional love and support.
Always a deeply faithful and humble servant, Stanley studied the Bible daily. He taught Sunday School for 65 years, led Bible studies, sang in the choir, and participated in many prayer groups. He was active in the church and served on numerous boards throughout the years. Other outreach endeavors included Kairos prison ministries, a mission trip to Ometepec, Mexico, and ministering to the homeless. A man of measured words, Stanley spoke with a depth of knowledge, wisdom, and discernment. Many were touched by his prayers, which always ended “in the wonderful, wonderful name of Jesus. Amen.”
Stanley will be remembered by many for his quick wit, dry humor, kind heart, and generous nature. He was a life-long reader, enjoying diverse topics from world history to astronomy. In his downtime, he could often be found meditating on God’s Word, playing the guitar, or working through challenging sudoku puzzles. After retirement, his love for the land continued with gardening and growing vegetables to be shared with family and friends. Good food was central to family gatherings, and he was always up for cooking up some hamburgers, steaks, or ribs that everyone would enjoy. His granddaughters especially loved their Popsy’s flour tortillas and chocolate chip cookies.
Stanley is survived by his wife, Judy, of San Angelo; two daughters, Amy Roe and husband, Jason, of Albuquerque, NM and Jill Reed and husband, Jason, of New Braunfels, TX; four granddaughters, Madeline Johnson and husband, Liam, of Norfolk, VA, Alyssa Fiebiger and husband, Carter, of Montgomery, TX, and Bridget and Annie Reed of New Braunfels; two brothers, David Holik and wife, Wanda, of Wall, and Ruben Holik and wife, Rhonda, of Wall; sister-in-law Susan Dreier of Irving, and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Stanley Sr. and Ruby Holik; brother, Franklin Holik, Sr.; and in-laws Edwin and Viola Krupala.
Serving as pallbearers are nephews and grandsons-in-law: Erik Holik, Simon Holik, Adam Holik, Franklin Holik, Jr., Jason Holik, Josh Holik, Carter Fiebeger, and Liam Johnson.
The family would like to thank the care team on 4 West at Shannon Medical Center and Dr. Steven Alred for their loving care and kindness to Stanley and to us.
