Governor’s Small Business Forum to Include Veteran-Focused Sessions

Governor’s Small Business Forum to Include Veteran-Focused Sessions Governor Greg Abbott’s Small Business Division, in conjunction with the San Angelo Development Corporation have announced the 2015 Small Business Forum to be held in the San Angelo’s McNease Convention Center on Oct. 27.

The Forums, being held in select cities throughout the state, are all-day events with numerous seminars conducted by guest speakers and panels.

San Angelo's Forum is unique in that several of the sessions have a special veterans focus, including workshops on how veterans can get started in business and how businesses can have the best success in employing veterans. Veteran’s services groups will be on hand with special booths to inform veterans about available business assistance.

COSA-DC Director Roland Pena says "We and Governor Abbott’s office agreed that this area is special in terms of its population of veterans and active military personnel. With the VA Hospital in Big Spring, Goodfellow here, and other bases in relatively close proximity, we felt there was an opportunity to help an especially deserving part of the population, veteran entrepreneurs and the veteran workforce."

Space and accommodations will limited to 200 attendees. Veterans and Small Business Owners from throughout the region are invited to attend, on a first come first serve basis. Contributing Forum hosts include: San Angelo Chamber of Commerce, Concho Valley Workforce Development, Angelo State University - SBDC, Howard College, and the Texas Veterans Entrepreneur Program.
