Billiards League Hosts Fundraiser to Support Local Bars

ODESSA, TX — Weeks after Gov. Abbott ordered bars to close once again, bar owners and employees have been left in a precarious situation.

According to KTXS, the Odessa Area Pool Players League organized a large fundraiser to raise funds for 16 bars that are currently closed.

On Saturday, organizers hosted a raffle, an auction, a car show, a car wash and sold food at the event. The event continued until noon on Sunday. Organizers hoped to raise $16,000 that would then be divided between all the bar owners.

“Well I think it’s going to help some of them keep, go ahead and keep the doors open,” Missy Huckaby said. “I mean, pay the electric bill, pay the water bill, their rent, things like that. It’s going to have a tremendous impact.”
