Abilene Lands Huge Cheese Packaging Company

 

SAN ANGELO, TX – The Abilene City Council has approved bringing Great Lakes Cheese to the city.

“Great Lakes Cheese is one of the largest packed cheese companies in America and it’s a family owned business.” Gov. Abbott said.

This will bring 500 jobs to Abilene with an average salary of $60,000 a year. Over the next ten years, its is expected to generate $1.3 billion for the city.

“This project was made possible due to the support of Governor Greg Abbott who, in addition to Representative Lambert and Senator Buckingham, will be sharing why this is a huge win for the state of Texas. This incredible opportunity is positioned to provide enormous benefits to the citizens of Abilene through jobs and capital investment and will be the largest project recruited by the DCOA in its 30-year history,” the DCOA said in a press release.

Great Lakes Cheese is expected to invest $184.5 million into a packaging facility that will be located at the Access Business Park.

The plant expansion will include a 286,500 in additional square feet for packaging and warehouse space. CLICK HERE and apply as a contractor.
